I am an accredited lecturer with the UK Arts Society and am very happy to give my talks live or over Zoom. I am currently taking bookings for 2021, 2022 and Spring 2023.
The Art of the Cartoonist
The Art Of The Cartoonist traces the story of cartoons and cartoonists over the last two hundred years, from Hogarth and Gilray to Herjé and Schulz, focusing on those artists who have made an abiding impression upon culture, language, history and, specifically, me.
There will be humour, there will be history and there will be live drawing from me, as I share some of the tricks and techniques of the cartoonists trade. |

Secrets of Sitcom Writing
Secrets Of The Sitcom Writing delivers a one hour crash course in producing a narrative comedy script. As the writer of Clare In The Community - twelve series, seventy four episodes, one Sony Radio Award- and also Sneakipeeks - cancelled after one series with the lowest audience appreciation responses ever- I feel I can offer insights from both ends of the spectrum of success.
Whether you feel you have a comedy script inside you, are comedically curious or just keen to hear show-business disaster stories sprinkled with name dropping and gossip, Secrets Of Sitcom Writing covers all the bases. All twelve series ( plus two specials) of Clare In The Community are currently available on BBC Sounds. |
A Visual Guide to Radio Comedy
A personal history of all the radio shows that helped shape post-war British humour, punctuated with photos of the stars and generously peppered with recordings from the archives.
Join in with all the famous catchphrases from all your favorite shows: Can I do you now, sir? He’s fallen in the water! I’m Julian and this is my friend Sandy. Ahaaaaaaaaaa! And many, many more. Clare In The Community may well feature. Sneakipeeks probably won’t. |
